Full-scale tests of pipe sections with surface axial and circumferential notches to justify the concept "Leak-Before-Break"
In order to verify the developed limit load analytical models of the pipe elements with crack-like surface defects of different orientation and determining the mechanism of the possible fracture ("leak" or "break"), full-scale tests of the pipe sections (straight pipe, elbow, T-junction) with axial and circumferential defects were performed.
Test objects:
-
straight pipe,
-
elbow,
-
T-junction.
Full-scale test types:
-
straight pipes with axial surface notches under internal pressure,
-
straight pipes with circumferential surface notches under internal pressure,
-
straight pipes with circumferential surface notches under combined internal pressure and bending,
-
pipe bend (elbow) with axial surface notch (on external creator) under internal pressure,
-
T-junctions with axial surface notches (in nozzle zone) under internal pressure.
